Fairyland kindergarten was started in June 2000.The aims of the school were to cater to the educational needs with a difference and to provide opportunity to involve parents in child's education. Parents acknowledgement towards quality education imparted and the benefits of their involvement in boosting their child's development encouraged the trustees to venture into primary education in June 2002.
The Fairyland school is a co-ed institution recognised by the Government of Goa. The curriculum is formulated by experts in Human Development and is periodically upgraded.
Fairyland Kindergarten caters to preschool children with the guiding principle of providing a healthy environment for a holistic development. A wide variety of carefully chalked out curriculum comprises of creative, multi-cultural and concept formation activities. This curriculum which progresses from simple to complex and from concrete to abstract is divided into three terms (from June to March).
Our tradition of Early Childhood Education in a community set up has been successful since its inception. The students are groomed with the right values, healthy attitudes and habits essential for their all round development.
Parental involvement plays a vital role as education imparted in school is reinforced by the parents at home. Annual workshops on creativity are held for the parents so that they stay abreast of the art and craft world.
Inclusive Education is a part of our education upholding every child’s right to education. A well equipped resource room and therapies are provided depending on the individual needs of the students.
Fairyland Primary School develops young minds to think analytically while continuing activities in creativity and moral development. Play approach continues in the first two years of the Primary School while formal education is enforced in the last two.
The academics concentrate on Languages (English, Hindi and Konkani/Marathi), Mathematics, Science and General Knowledge. Co scholastic subjects range from Information Technology, Art/Craft, Music, Dance and Sports.
Parental involvement continues at primary level as the challenges faced are overcome more successfully in partnership with the parents. Workshops are conducted for parents and the students annually on creativity. A healthy relationship with the parents, teachers and the management ensures a safe and sound environment for the holistic development of the students.
The curriculum is altered for students having difficulty after an assessment is done by the special educator. This is important as many a time a student may not be able to comprehend the medium of instruction rather than having Specific Learning Disability.
Fairyland High School follows the Continuous Curriculum Evaluation (CCE) from standard V to VIII. The Evaluation is based on Formative and Summative assessment and the academic year is assessed for scholastic as well as co scholastic activities.
Group projects and individual assignments keep learning experiences from becoming monotonous and predictable.
Standard IX and X follow the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education guidelines for examinations. Students with special needs have an option to drop two subjects and take up Floriculture and Vegetable Gardening as prevocational subjects.
Excursions, workshops and competitions aim to provide opportunities to bring out the best in the students. Multi cultural festivals are celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm, building in a sense of brotherhood and respect for diverse cultural residents in our state and nation as a whole.
Fairyland Special School provides a platform for those students with intellectual disabilities who don’t fit into the regular mould of learning. Functional Assessment Checklist for Programming (FACP) is followed in order to categorise students into groups for their daily schedule. The day commences with yoga and progresses to academics which comprises of functional reading, writing, arithmetic and prevocational/vocational classes.
Therapies play a vital role in overcoming of the challenges faced by the students. Music therapy is a group session conducted weekly. Occupational and physiotherapy are given to students individually depending on the students need.
Dear Friends,
Warm Greetings to you!
With gratitude to God I am extremely happy that my dreams are being fulfilled .I had an earnest desire to build up an institution where education is blended in all colours of human values keeping in mind all round development of personality as a major goal.
I am happy that my dream is coming true because this Herculian task is taken over by the Headmistress and the staff who work tirelessly to bring the school vision to fruition.
Their sincere efforts, dedication and commitment has brought out the best in the students ensuring their all-round development.
We are proud to be an inclusive institution catering to the needs of the students of different abilities, religions, cultures and languages. Each student is unique and we grow, learn and develop as we accommodate these differences.
Respect and understanding grow when students of diverse abilities and backgrounds socialize and learn together .Thus learning is not only an enjoyable experience but an enriching one for the overall development of all students.
The institution was established in 2000 now has Kindergarten, Primary and High School. The School for students with intellectual disabilities was established in 2010 to provide a platform for those students who doesn’t fit into the regular mould of learning. Aristotle once said, “Excellence is never an accident it is always the result of high intention, sincere efforts, and intelligent execution, it represents the wise choice of many alternatives choice, not chance determines your destiny”.
These words of wisdom best describe our Fairyland Institution. Our students have excelled academically securing cent percent results for the five consecutive years at the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education –Alto Porvorim. Every batch of standard X has students with special needs opting for pre-vocational subjects. In the fields of sports, two of our students with special needs have represented the country for roller skating at Special Olympics Bharat and won accolades for the same.
We are privileged to work with the parents, our partners in the educational process, who entrusted us with their daughters, and sons, owners of the future.
Warm Regards
Dr. Carmo Pegado
